Understanding Neck Pain

Neck pain is otherwise called as cervical spondylosis. The cervical spine may get chronic wear and tear changes in neck area. It is characterized as nerve root irritation in cervical area , dus dessication etc. It may affect particular structure like disc, joints, bones of neck.

It is very frequently occur in 30- 35 yrs of age. The sign and symptoms may vary on severity. It may affect lower part of neck. If it travel to arm or shoulder it is called as cervical radiculopathy. It can be mechanical or neuropathic.

  • Stage 1: early movement difficulty occurs.
  • Stage 2: Mild difficulty occur during movement
  • Stage 3: neck movement range is reduced
  • Stage 4: prominent restriction
  • Stage 5: Difficulty occurs during daily work
  • Stage 1: early stiffness
  • Stage 2: tightness occur after rest period
  • Stage 3: neck movement is decreased
  • Stage 4: rotation of neck is difficult
  • Stage 5: stiffness may persist any time
  • Stage 1: mild headache occur intermittently
  • Stage 2: Headache after continuous sitting posture
  • Stage 3: headaches occur on and off
  • Stage 4: headaches occur severly
  • Stage 5: during daily activities headache occur persstently
  • Stage 1: Neck pain only occur during this stage
  • Stage 2: Pain may spread to shoulder region
  • Stage 3: Pain may spread to arm region
  • Stage 4: Pain may spread to hand area
  • Stage 5: Pain with weakness occur in this area
